Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 22, 2026. Last updated: September 25, 2026. This policy explains what The Arkansas Patriot collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
The Arkansas Patriot is published by Get Alerts LLC (“Get Alerts,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), which operates this site and its free email alerts. Our mailing address is Get Alerts LLC, 548 Dave Creek Pkwy, Fairfield Bay, AR 72088. You can reach us any time at news@thearkansaspatriot.com.
The short version
- We ask for your email address so we can send you alerts. That is the main piece of personal information we collect.
- We do not sell or rent our email list. Not to advertisers, not to campaigns, not to anyone.
- Every email we send has a one-click unsubscribe link, and it works immediately.
- We measure which stories and emails get read, so we can publish better ones.
Information you give us
- Your email address, when you sign up for alerts, vote in one of our reader polls, or write to us.
- Your poll answers. When you vote in a poll, we record the answer you chose along with your email address so each person votes once and so we can send you the results.
- The contents of your messages, if you email us. We keep correspondence so we can respond and follow up.
Information collected automatically
Like nearly every website, our servers and analytics record basic technical information when you visit:
- IP address, general location derived from it, browser and device type, and operating system.
- Pages viewed, time of visit, and the site or link that referred you.
- Whether you opened one of our emails and which links you clicked. Links in our email pass through our own tracking domain, links.thearkansaspatriot.com.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working, remember your preferences, and measure traffic in aggregate. Some pages also contain content embedded from other companies — for example posts from X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook, and our Facebook share button. Those companies can set their own cookies and receive your IP address when their content loads, and their own privacy policies govern that activity. We do not control it.
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. Blocking them may affect how parts of the site behave. We do not currently respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals, because there is no common standard for how publishers should honor them. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of any sale or sharing of your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Advertising
This publication is free to read because advertisers and sponsors pay for it. Advertising appears on the site and in our emails, and paid placements are labeled. Advertisers and their technology partners may set their own cookies or use pixels within their creative, which lets them count impressions and clicks; that activity is governed by their privacy policies, not ours, and we do not control it.
We do not give advertisers your email address. An advertiser reaches our readers by buying a placement that we send or display — never by receiving your contact details. Our full advertising policy is on our Advertising & Sponsorship page.
How we use information
- To send the news alerts and updates you asked for.
- To record and report poll results, and to email those results to people who voted.
- To answer your questions, corrections, and partnership inquiries.
- To understand which stories readers value, and to improve the site and our email.
- To sell and measure advertising in aggregate, without identifying you to an advertiser.
- To protect the site against fraud, abuse, and technical problems.
- To comply with the law and to enforce our Terms of Service.
Who we share information with
We share personal information only in these situations:
- Service providers who run the machinery of this publication on our behalf. That includes our website and email platform, our email delivery provider, our hosting provider, and our DNS and security provider. They may process your information only to provide services to us.
- Legal requirements, when we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, subpoena, or court order, or is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of our readers, the public, or us.
- A business transfer, if Get Alerts LLC or this publication is ever sold, merged, or reorganized. Your information would move with the business, and this policy would continue to apply until it is updated.
We do not sell your personal information for money. If we ever introduce advertising partners whose practices would qualify as “selling” or “sharing” personal information under state privacy laws, we will update this policy and provide an opt-out before doing so.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe from alerts using the link at the bottom of any email. You can also email us and we will remove you.
- Ask what we have. Write to us and we will tell you what information we hold about you.
- Ask us to delete it. Write to us and we will delete your information, except anything we must keep for legal or recordkeeping reasons.
- Correct it. Tell us if anything we hold about you is wrong.
Depending on your state of residence — including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and Virginia — you may have additional rights to access, delete, correct, or port your personal information, and to be free from discrimination for exercising those rights. We honor these requests from every reader who asks, regardless of where you live. Send your request to news@thearkansaspatriot.com from the email address on file, so we can confirm it is really you. You may use an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf; we may ask for proof of that authorization.
How long we keep information
We keep your email address for as long as you are subscribed, and for a reasonable period afterward to honor your unsubscribe and to keep records of consent. Poll votes are kept as part of the poll record. Server logs are kept for a limited period for security and troubleshooting. When information is no longer needed, we delete it.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect the information we hold, including encryption in transit and access controls on our publishing systems. No website or email system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
This site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will delete it.
Readers outside the United States
We operate in the United States, and any information you provide is processed and stored here. Privacy laws in your country may differ from those in the United States. By using this site or subscribing, you understand that your information will be handled as described in this policy.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our publication changes or as the law requires. When we do, we will revise the “last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will be announced to subscribers by email.
